Assumptions

This manual does not make too many assumptions about the reader.
The only assumptions it makes is that the system being used meets the minimum hardware requirements i.e. the machine has a hard drive with at least 10 GB free space, it has some RAM (at least 128MB), it has some kind of display and the rest of all that good stuff.

Notice that we are being deliberately vague about the hardware requirements – this is because Linux will happily run on the newest/fastest systems and it can also be made to run from a floppy disk.
